There used to be definite rules about what to wear for a particular occasion, but these rules became blurred during the latter part of the 20th century, and so today we have a situation where almost anything goes. Or does it?
There are those people who say they will wear whatever they like, regardless of the occasion, and everyone has a right to their own particular style. However, some occasions warrant more specific types of clothes, particularly if you want to make a good impression.
Many clubs, restaurants and bars have relaxed their dress codes in recent years, as more and more people prefer to dress more casually than would have been accepted years ago. There are still some establishments that have a firm dress code, and so it is best to check before you go, if in doubt, top prevent being turned away at the door.
There are occasions when you want to make a good impression, whether you think this is right or not, and you will need to be dressed appropriately to do this. You won’t make a very favorable impression at an important job interview with your jean skinny and your shirt untucked. While you might not agree, people do judge you on your appearance, so consider what the appropriate dress is for any occasion. For a job interview, dress similarly to those already employed in the same position you are going for.
When you take a girl out for the first time, you probably also want to make a good impression. If you are going somewhere casual, you will probably want to wear jeans; this is fine but team them with a black or brown boot to dress them up a bit. This creates a casual but smart look, especially when worn with a collared shirt tucked in and a belt that matches the boots.
Accessories are an important touch; if you are not into wearing jewellery, you can still make a statement with the watch you choose to wear. A men’s sport watch is appropriate for any style of dress these days, whether you are going for a casual or dressy look. Lots of guys have a collection of watches, so that they can wear a different one whenever they choose. These need not be expensive either; browse online to find good quality watches at amazing prices.
Whatever the occasion, take the time to consider what you should wear; what is appropriate for a job interview is very different to what you wear to hang out at home. If you need to make a good impression, dress in a similar style to the people you will be meeting with, or go with the smart casual look if in doubt.
